Matlab Uttar Naming:

On 2000 April 30, 1 municipalities and 14 union of as well as on individual islands surrounded by the river Meghna-dhanagoda Matlab North Upazila started. Later the same year, the newly-created on matlab north upazila 5th September started. Neighboring as Matlab South upazila the north side,The upazila is named Matlab North.

Location:

Matlab Uttar or North is an Upazila or Thana of Chandpur District in the Division of Chittagong, Bangladesh. Matlab Uttar or Norht is bordered by Gojaria on the North, Matlab Dakshin on the South, Daudkandi on the east, and Shariatpur and Munshiganj on the west.

This Upazila or Thana is also bounded by Meghna on the North and North-west, and Dhonagoda on the East. “Shatnol ghat” is historically Significant since Steamers from Gaolondo, Chandpur and Narayanganj used to use this River Dock.

History of the War of Liberation:

In 1971, Northern part of Former Matlab Upazila or Thana (Matlab Uttar or North) was completely under the Control of the Freedom Fighters. A few Encounters were held between the Freedom Fighters and the pak Army Attempting to enter into the Upazila/Thana.

 
During the war of Liberation a Hospital was established in this Upazila or Thana to give Medical Treatment to the Wounded Freedom Fighters.
