Matlab Upazila or Thana Uttar and Dakshin is a Popular Upazila or Thana of Chandpur District in the Division of Chittagong, Bangladesh. Matlab is a very good-Looking Upzila/Thana of Chandpur District. River side area of Bangladesh which Contains Major River sided port, Fish Research Center. Meghna River with Dhanagoda dam. Main Rivers are lower Meghna, Gumti and Dhonagoda, Meghna-Dhanagoda Irrigation Project is Notable. Hilsa fish of these Areas are well known. 30 April 2000 Matlab Upazila or Thana were Divided into two such as Matlab Uttar and Dakhin Upazila or Thana. ICDDRB, Matlab is well Known Hospital.
Geography:
Matlab is Located at 23.3500◦N90.7083◦E. It has 76,266 Registered Housing Units and a total Land Area 409.22 square Kilometers.
Daudkandi and Gazaria Upazilas on the north,Chandpur sadar and Hajiganj Upazilas on the south, Kachua Upazila on the east, Munshiganj sadar and Bhedarganj Upazilas on the west.

As of 1991 Bangladesh census, Matlab had a Population of 445,607. Males Constitute 49.31% of the population, Females 50.69%. Muslims 89.97%, Hindus 9.21% and others 0.82%.
